Humboldt, IA — Caitlyn Blocker, 27, of Humboldt’s 2008 Toyota Avalon collided with Ciara Bennum, 18, of Ottosen at the intersection of 3rd Ave. S and 5th St. S. in Humboldt around 7pm last Thursday.
Blocker was southbound on 5th St. S when Bennum pulled out into the intersection. Bennum came to rest at the stop sign but didn’t give the right of way to the oncoming car of Blocker who then struck Bennum on the passenger of her 2012 Kia Optima. Both cars had to be towed from the scene as Bennum’s car received the brunt of the damage with an estimated $8,000 worth of damage.
Both drivers were not injured as they were both wearing their seat-belt. Bennum was cited at fault for failing to give the right of way at the yield sign.
