Former Human Services Director Suing Governor Reynolds

Des Moines, IA — A lawsuit could be coming soon against Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, her chief of staff, and the state of Iowa as former director of Human Services Jerry Foxhoven is taking legal action against his dismissal.

Foxhoven was dismissed by Reynolds six weeks ago as Reynolds had stated after the dismissal that she wants the department to move in a different direction. No specific reason has been given by Reynolds as to why Foxhoven was dismissed other than making a blanket statement saying there were a lot of reasons.

Foxhoven held a press conference yesterday with his attorney Thomas Duff as they officially announced they are suing over wrongful termination. Foxhoven was asked about his initial reaction to be asked to resign and he says he never saw it coming.

Foxhoven and Duff are planning to file a claim with the Iowa Court of Appeals which then Duff expects the state not to offer a settlement which will lead to their official lawsuit against the Reynolds administration.
