Dakota City, IA — It’s a Christmas miracle – the famous Dakota City Christmas light display will soon be up, despite last year being billed as the final year for the show.

Merlin Fort, the 90-year-old behind the bulbs, said he’s doing it again this year to “make thousands of people happy.” But he’s positive he won’t do it next year.

Fort has been putting up lights since November 1st with help from neighbors and friends. There are over 100,000 lights on display at the house on 2nd Street South. It has been a must-see Christmas attraction for 35 years.

Fort says he hopes to have the display ready to turn on before Thanksgiving.
