Fort Dodge, IA — Two Humboldt men are facing charges after an altercation outside of a bar in Fort Dodge Saturday.

Witnesses to the incident say that a man, later identified as Esteban Huerte, 24, of Humboldt, was removed from Kingz Lounge in Fort Dodge around 10:45 Saturday night. Huerte allegedly got into a physical altercation with a member of the bar’s security team outside of the establishment. His name has not been released, but the 41-year-old staff member suffered a stab wound to his upper back and was transported to Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Fort Dodge Police Department says that while Huerte had interacted with the staff member prior to being escorted out, the victim was not stabbed by Huerte.

The Fort Dodge Police Department said a suspect in the stabbing was located approximately 20 minutes later, in close proximity to the bar. After interviewing the suspect and witnesses, the police arrested Huerte and Antonio Vallejo, 25, of Humboldt.

Vallejo is charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and Esteban Huerte, 24, is charged with assault.

The investigation is ongoing by the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. More information is expected.
