Humboldt, IA – Bridge inspection will be occurring this year.

On Dec. 23, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors made the decision to go forward with the process of having 59 bridges in Humboldt County inspected. The decision was unanimous for a total amount of $15,399

County Engineer Ben Loots says that there are 54 standard or longer culvert (structure that allow water flow under road or similar obstructions) structures with 4 high truss bridges and a single pony truss bridge.

The Board approved the services of Shuck-Britson the certified bridge contractor out of Des Moines to handle the inspections. Shuck-Britson makes a report on a lot of the things the county looks for when checking bridges and assessing conditions.
