Humboldt, IA — Two Humboldt-area farmers can be seen in a state-wide campaign for Iowa pork producers.

Kevin and Lisa Rasmussen, who live northeast of Humboldt, are currently featured in the “We Care, Iowa” video. The campaign, which began in October 2019, was overseen by the Iowa Pork Producers Association Issues Management Task Force.

The purpose, according to the Iowa Pork Producers Association, or IPPA, is to shed light on pig farming in rural Iowa and engage in meaningful conversations with those who might not understand pork production.

The Rasmussens shared their story in the video; they have a pig finishing operation that is a huge part of the Humboldt County community. Kevin serves on the public relations committee for the IPPA and said the committee needed to do a better job of getting their message to the public.

The Rasmussens believe in what they do. Lisa said it was “very humbling” to be chosen as a voice for the Iowa Pork Producers.

Kevin and Lisa live southeast of Hardy, Iowa, where they finish approximately 8,000 pigs per year. The “We Care, Iowa” video segment can be seen at iowapork.org.
