HCMH delivers update to Board of Supervisors on readiness for COVID-19

Humboldt County, IA -HCMH provides an update to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors about their preparedness for COVID-19

In an update from the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital to the Board of Supervisors for Humboldt County they say they are prepared for when a case were to come to their attention in the county.

HCMH will be restricting all visitors and volunteers to Long Term Care and Assisted Living, with an exception to end of life care. Inpatient care will allow visitors with regulations including limiting visiting hours to 1 pm to 7 pm, no children under 18 and all visitors must be properly screened.

Likewise the HCMH says do NOT come to the hospital if you are showing flu like symptoms. Instead, call Humboldt County Public Health and they will discuss the next steps for testing and potential treatment. There have been no COVID-19 tests administered by HCMH at this but they are available for if the need arises.

Humboldt County Public Health recommends the following steps to protect yourself and other. For offices and work places, especially those exposed to lots of people, take care to wipe down heavily touched services multiple times a day. Cover your coughs, sneezes and wash your hands regularly. If someone has a fever or other symptoms Public Health encourages those individuals to stay home.

At this point HCMH and Humboldt County Public Health are approaching the situation as a “when not if” a case were to come in Humboldt County. The are confident in their ability to handle a situation when it arises and will continue to update the county and community on necessary information when it is available.

HCMH and Humboldt County Public Health have reminds everyone that there is no need to panic and they have resources to assist the community if the need arise.
