Beetle slides, sideswipes semi on slush covered roads in Friday morning incident

Goldfield, IA – No injuries reported after slick roads cause a Beetle and side swipe a Freightliner in a Friday morning collision.

Chief Deputy Cory Lampe of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, April 3, that Glen Allen, 51, of Rolfe was traveling east on Highway 3 approaching the intersection with Highway 17. At the same time Desiree Pugh, 19, of Goldfield was traveling west on Highway 3, crossing through the intersection when she lost control on the partially slush covered roads. Allen attempt to swerve and avoid Pugh but was unable to, resulting in Allen’s white Freightliner being sideswiped by Pugh’s black Volkswagon Beetle.

The incident resulted in minor damages to Allen’s Freightliner and functional damage to Pugh’s Beetle. No injuries were reported to Chief Deputy Lampe at the time of the incident. Pugh was cited for failure to maintain control.
