Dakota City, IA – Local day care service is taking extra precautions to assure the health and safety of those in their daily care.

Kiddie Cats Child Care and Learning Center in Dakota City has been continued to provide services during COVID-19 pandemic. However, they have been taking extra precautions to assure the safety of the children in their care, staff and the community.

Director Heather Bergman says that the process all starts at the door during drop off. She says that screen questions are asked when kids are dropped off, the same questions that are asked at health care providers. Temperatures of each child are also taken upon arrival. Additionally she says hours have been changed to 6 am to 3 pm.

However, Bergman says the precautions don’t stop once the child is left in the care of Kiddie Cats’ staff. Once a parent has checked their child in they will not be allowed to walk them back to the room, staff will escort the child instead. Staff are also limited to just their assigned room. Bergman says normally staff members can go from room to room if they need supplies but now they have to stay in the room and ask for the supplies to be brought to them.

Despite the changes a lot at Kiddie Cat still remains the same with a few minor changes where needed. Bergman says that they are still allowed to play outside on their playground equipment because it is not open to the public. Field trips scheduled for the summer had to be cancelled due to the virus which Bergman admits is not as fun for the kids.

Kiddie Cats Child Care and Learning Center provides support for children and families throughout Humboldt County and the surrounding area. They continue to have the same child focus environment that “engages young minds through learning and play.” More information about Kiddie Cats is available at kiddiecatschildcare.com.
