Four way intersection in Dakota City sees two car collision

Dakota City, IA – No injuries reported after driver fails to yield at four way intersection and gets hit on the passenger side.

Chief Deputy Cory Lampe of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday, May 6, that Michael Brannon, 60, of Dakota City was traveling north on 3rd Street North in Dakota City while Monte Haukoos, 67, of Renwick was traveling east on 2nd Avenue North. As the two drivers approached the intersection of the roads, Haukoos failed to follow a yield sign. The action resulted in the passenger side of his blue Jeep Liberty sport was struck by Brannon’s grey Chevrolet Impala.

Brannon was able to drive his vehicle away from the scene while Haukoos’ had to be towed away. There were no injuries reported to Chief Deputy Lampe at the time of the incident. Haukoos was cited for failure to obey a yield sign and Brannon was cited for failure to have insurance on his vehicle.
