Humboldt, IA – A local bank branch gives back to the community during trying times caused by COVID-19.

On Friday, May 8, Bank Iowa took time to give back to community. From 7 am to 10 am a team from the local branch took to Taft Elementary to hand out free eggs to any who arrived. According Bank Iowa in Humboldt Vice President and Loan Officer Travis Johnson they came up with the idea in a recent meeting.

“We wanted to think about somethings we could do for the community” he says. In these difficult times he felt like it was important for them to help out. “We just thought eggs were a good product for families and a good way to give back to the community.”

Johnson said Taft Elementary seemed like a good hub for the event because of its center location in Humboldt. The process of getting everything up only took a few phone calls. While within the first hour of the team being at Taft they had already gone through half of the eggs they brought, Johnson confirms there are plans in place to distribute any left overs they might have. “We definitely have plans to get rid of all of them, wherever that may be. We’ll seek some people out.”

He says the reaction from the community has been strong and very positive. “Very grateful, everyone who has come up has said they plan to use this for their family, their friends, cooking” the VP says. He also says that in these hard times is good for any organization to step up and help their community.

Bank Iowa has been proudly serving Humboldt since 1927 and continue to have a community first mentality in everything they do.
