Humboldt, IA – A mobile food bank will be going on May 13 as the Humboldt Fairground and will have safety measures in place to keep the community safe.

The Food Bank of Iowa will be coming to Humboldt Today, Wednesday, May 13. Dianne Connor with Food Bank of Iowa tells KHBT that the mobile food pantry will be going forward as scheduled. There will be changes in the pick-up procedure that the community will need to know.

Connor says the mobile food pantry will be located at the same place as always. The truck will pull into the fairgrounds here in Humboldt. The food will be handed out starting at 4:30 pm. However, circumstances will require a change in how the food is distributed.

The biggest change will be food getting loaded directly from truck to trunk. Connor says she is asking those who arrive to drive in through the north gate of the fairgrounds and line up throughout the driveways. This will allow families to pull up with their trunks open and the boxes of food will get loaded in for them.

Connor says that anyone in the community is welcome to come to the mobile food pantry. She says that the community comes and takes advantage of this opportunity. There will be food available for 140 families and it will be on a first come, first serve basis.
