More Iowa businesses may open Friday

Des Moines, IA – Iowa’s governor signs new procolmation and reopens more businesses statewide in quest to reopen the state economy.

Governor Kim Reynolds makes the announcement that more businesses will be allowed to reopen. As the path to reopening Iowa’s economy continues for state officials, May 15 marks the date that additional businesses can continue operations. All businesses will be required to follow guidelines created by the Iowa Department of Public Health to help maintain the health and safety of their patrons.

The following businesses will be allowed to resume operation starting May 15:

  • Salons
  • Barbershops
  • Massage therapy establishment
  • Tattoo establishments

All businesses that reopen must continue to follow guidelines developed by the IDPH. These guidelines include operating at maximum of 50% operating capacity, following sanitation and hygiene guidelines and assuring the practice of social distancing between patrons. Additionally, salons and barbershops are required to operate by appointment only.
