Spirit Lake, IA – Wildcat baseball travels to Spirit Lake for a wash.

On Thursday, June 18, the Humboldt High School Baseball made the journey to Spirit Lake, Iowa and Spirit Lake High School to face the Indians. The game was ultimately cancelled due to lightning and rain. The game was initially scheduled for 7:30 pm but got moved up to 5:15 in an attempt to beat the weather.

The start of the game got delayed by fifteen minutes because of a quick shower and the tarp being pulled over the plate and pitchers mound. Once the game started the Wildcats only sent one batter, Caden Matson, to the plate who struck out looking. As Jacob Thurm stepped to the plate a lightning strike out past left field sent the game into a lightning delay. The game got called immediately after.

There is no word on if the two teams plan to reschedule their meeting. Wildcat baseball will remain 1-1 on the season and will have the weekend off from competition. The next game for the baseball team will be Monday, June 22 at Hampton-Dumont-CAL at 6:30 pm.
