Dakota City, IA – Motor vehicle and tax walk-in traffic welcome, make an appointment for driver’s license at the Humboldt County Treasurer’s Office.

With the Humboldt County Court House front doors now unlocked some offices will begin allowing walk-in traffic. The Humboldt County Treasurer’s office, which is one of the busier offices at the court house, will begin allowing limited walk-in traffic. Treasurer Jana Bratland provides details to KHBT on the office reopening.

Walk-in traffic will be limited to certain stations and capacity limits. Bratland says the walk-ins will be limited to motor vehicle and tax. There will only be two stations open dedicated to those areas. The office is asking only those at the counter be in the office and people wait outside for a spot to open up. Bratland also says the only the customer required to complete the transaction should be in the office. The driver’s license station will continue to operate by appointment only at this time.

The office will continue to have additional safety measures in place for the time being. This includes plexiglass dividers at the counter between staff and those coming in the office. The counter will also have hand sanitizer on both sides of the counter for staff and customers. Masks are recommended but not required by any county office. The staff will attempt to clean the offices as many times as day, but Bratland says the high traffic in the office might limit that to once or twice a day.

Bratland reminds everyone the process might take a little longer and that they be patient throughout the process. This includes while waiting in line outside the office. She also asks that patrons be cognizant of their spot in line while waiting for a spot to open up. She says it might take a little longer during the limited capacity situation for the office.

While the Treasurer’s and other Humboldt County offices will be reopening for walk-in traffic citizens can still call ahead. The secure drop box on the north side of the court house will still be in place for those wishing to drop off documents or payments to any office.
