Wildcat baseball picks up third straight victory

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School baseball has best game of the season from the plate in victory over Webster City.

On Wednesday, June 24, the Wildcats were home to face the Lynx of Webster City, picking up the win 7-5. After a scoreless first, the Wildcats scored five runs in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead. After one more in the fourth the Lynx would score four in the sixth to draw with in one (6-5) but the Wildcats would add a cushion run in the bottom frame to win by two.

  • Wildcats had eight hits as a team, making it the most hits in a game for the team.
  • Cade Witzke led the way going 2-4 from the plate with 2 RBIs.
  • Three Wildcat errors resulted in four unearned runs for Webster City.

The Wildcats are now 3-1 on the season. Humboldt baseball will return to action Thursday, June 25, for a make-up game against Hampton-Dumont-CAL on the road. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm with no JV scheduled.
