Chief Master Sergeant Thul recognized by the city at the end of his career

Humboldt, IA – A Humboldt native is retiring from the military and is being recognized by the city for his accomplishment during his lengthy career.

The City of Humboldt is recognizing a local who is retiring after nearly 30 years of service in the Air Force. Tuesday, July 14, the city took the time to recognize Chief Master Sergeant Lee W. Thul for three decades of service in the U.S. Air Force. In recognition Humboldt Mayor Dan School issued a proclamation in recognition of Chief Master Sergeant Thul.

Chief Master Sergeant Thul first joined the Air Force in July of 1991. He was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in October of 2013. His assignment throughout his career includes bases in South Dakota, Germany, New Mexico, North Dakota, Virginia, South Korea and Illinois. He’s received major recognition for his service including a bronze star medal, meritorious service medal with five oak leaf cluster, the air force commendation medal with two oak leaf clusters, joint service achievement medal and an air force achievement medal with two oak leaf cluster.

Chief Master Sergeant Lee graduated from Humboldt High School in 1991. In the proclamation from Humboldt Mayor Dan Scholl it states that he and the city “proudly recognize the many accomplishments and excellent career” and thank him for his service to this country.
