Humboldt, IA – The City of Humboldt welcomes in a new Recreational Supervisors to assist in the city’s rec department.

During the most recent meeting of the Humboldt City Council they were present with a proposal to hire Mindy Bethke to the newly created full time position of rec supervisors. The position works alongside the Humboldt Rec Center Manager and the Rec Director for the City of Humboldt.

According to City Administrator Travis Goedkin the full time position is the evolution of a part time position that already existed. He says that because of the hours the position demands beyond a normal business day it would be a difficult to find a way to fill it without make it full time. The solution was to take the part time position and merge it with some of the duties that the rec director fulfills to assist in the day to day function of the rec department.

Bethke is a recent graduate of the University of Northern Iowa. She also recently served as an intern with the recreation department in Sibley, Iowa. Now she comes to Humboldt and Goedken says her office will be at the Humboldt Rec Center.

The council approved her hiring as presented during their meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
