Humboldt law enforcement investigating a Gilmore City explosion

Gilmore City, IA – Humboldt County Law Enforcement is investigating an explosion that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Gilmore City.

According to a release from the Humboldt Law Enforcement Center, on September 15, 2020, the Humboldt LEC received a 911 call of an explosion at 401 SE 4th St in Gilmore City. Upon arrival by first responders, a 49-year old male was located inside the residence with injuries to his hands, arms and upper torso.  The victim was transported to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital by Humboldt Ambulance, and was later air-lifted to a Des Moines hospital for further treatment.  His current condition is unknown.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as well as the State Fire Marshal Division to assist.  The investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.  However, it has been determined that this was an isolated incident and the public is not in danger.

Also assisting at the scene were Gilmore City First Responders and Humboldt County Emergency Management.
