Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Community is showing their support for Iowa State wrestling by participating in an annual fundraiser.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Humboldt Country Club played host to the third annual Cyclone Regional Training Center (CRTC) Fundraiser in Humboldt. The fundraising event started with a golf outing and included a pork dinner. The event ended with an auction where local businesses auctioned off items to help raise funds of the training facility.

Present for the event was the ISU wrestling coaching staff including Head Coach and Humboldt native Kevin Dresser. The majority of the Cyclone wrestling team was also present to meet some of the Humboldt community and thank them for helping support the funding for the CRTC.

The CRTC is a wrestling training facility in Ames that is used by groups of all ages to train. Coach Dresser calls the facility “vital” to the team and program’s success. It is a nonprofit facility so events like these are crucial to its success. “It’s nice to be able to have a nonprofit organization that just dedicated just to wrestling” Coach Dresser says. He also says that it’s not just current ISU wrestlers who train but post graduates and even some of the top high school wrestlers in the state.

While Humboldt might seems like an odd place to hold a big fundraisers like this due to the size, Coach Dresser says it’s one of the best places for ISU wrestling to fundraise. “Well I’m a Humboldt Wildcat number one” he says. “They got the best, hardest working people in the U.S. of A.” He says they have been an important supporter in the ISU wrestling program in both supporting Coach Dresser himself, going to annual events like the one at the country club and in season ticket purchases.

Coach Dresser was glad to see the community come out and support the CRTC and ISU wrestling.
