Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is giving the auditor more direction after approving two resolutions.

During the recent meeting of the supervisors on Monday, Aug. 31 they were present with a couple of resolutions to review and approve. The two resolutions were on separate matters but both directly effect the office of the auditor.

The first resolution establishes a timeline in which contractors and other entities can file for payment of work completed. This resolution came after discussions surrounding stories from other Iowa counties who had contractors file for payment well after the date of works completion. This resolution allows the county to make sure their yearly budget is not thrown off the rails because of an unexpected charge from years before. The resolution sets it so the claim can come one year at the latest after completion of work.

The second resolution set it in place so the auditor could request reimbursement form the Iowa COVID-19 government relief fund. The purpose of this state fund is to give reimbursement to the county for equipment purchased in relation to COVID-19 protection. In order to request this money, the county must first go through the FEMA application process. Auditor Peggy Rice says that the county will be using the reimbursement to cover expenses of addition equipment purchased for this November’s election that were needed due to the pandemic.

Both resolutions were passed unanimously by the supervisors as presented by the office of the county auditor.
