Suspect attempts to escape custody in Wright County

Eagle Grove, IA – Suspect in a Goldfield disturbance is in custody following traffic stop and attempt to escape custody of the Wright County Sheriff’s Department according to release.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Wright County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Eagle Grove. A deputy suspected the vehicle was the suspect vehicle from a disturbance in Goldfield, Iowa that the deputy was responding to.

According to the release the driver of the vehicle was identified as Sean McMillian, 31, of Fort Dodge. It was determined that McMillian was driving while barred, was in passion of a handgun as a felon and as a suspect in the disturbance call. While the deputy was dealing with the passenger in the vehicle, the McMillian jumped the console of the deputy’s vehicle, drove at and hit the deputy. The deputy was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

McMillian abandoned the deputy’s vehicle a short distance later and attempted to flee on foot. He was later arrested in Eagle Grove and charged with Escape from Custody, a class D felony.
