Humboldt boys first, girls fourth at the NCC cross country meet

Clear Lake, IA – Humboldt High School varsity cross country competes well during the conference meet as both teams place in the top five.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Wildcats cross country team traveled to Clear Lake and the Veteran’s Memorial Golf Course. It was a three peat complete for the boys team who won the conference championship and the girl placed fourth.

For the boys team their first place finish was a score of 32 (30 points higher than Clear Lake in second). Quinton Orr led the way with the individual win with a time of 15:42. Wildcat Eric Wittrock placed second and Trevor Jacobson and Nolan Jergens also had top ten finishes.

The girls team finished fourth as a team with a score of 87. Leading the way for the team was Joslyn Orr who finished 13 overall with a time of 21:52.

Humboldt cross country will now turn its attention to the state qualifying meets. The qualifying meets are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
