Humboldt volleyball goes 3-2 during a tough Saturday tournament

Mason City, IA – Humboldt High School volleyball get three wins and drops two during the Mason City Tournament on Saturday.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, Humboldt Wildcat volleyball took to the road for their final Saturday tournament of the 2020 season. For Humboldt they would pick up three easy win and drop two tight ones. It was also a big day for Senior Outside Hitter Jori Hajek who would get her 1,000 career kill as a Wildcat.

For Humboldt they would win the first match of the day against the hosting school Mason City two sets to none. The first set score was 21-8 and the second second score was 21-13. A full stat breakdown from this match can be found on Varsity Bound.

Match two for the Wildcats was against Central Springs. Humboldt would win this match two sets to none as well. The final score for the first set was 21-18 and the second was 21-5. A final stat report from this match can be found on Varsity Bound.

Match number three for Humboldt was against Waverly-Shell Rock who came into the day ranked sixth in Iowa Class 4A. The result was the first loss of the 2020 season for Humboldt, two sets to none. Humboldt would rebound in match four as they would face a familiar foe in Clear Lake. Already having beat the Lions once this season Humboldt grabbed another two set to none victory. The final match of the day for Humboldt would be against the top ranked team in their own class (Class 3A) Osage. It was a two sets to none loss for the Wildcats. The final scores in the sets were set one 21-19 and the second 21-17. The final stat report on is on Varsity Bound.

After Humboldt went 3-2 on the day their overall record is now 29-2. The Wildcats will have one final week of preseason play before the start of the region play. Next up for Humboldt is a road game against Bishop Garrigan on Tuesday, Oct. 13. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
