Humboldt, IA – There is a new, safer way to visit loved ones at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital’s Long Term Care Unit.
Immediate and extended family members and friends are invited to LTC’s indoor chat room. The room is located before the main doors of the Long Term Care Unit and is divided by a wall with a window. Visitors and residents can communicate with each other through a speaker phone.
To make an appointment, visitors should call HCMH at 515-332-4200 or LTC directly at 515-332-7685. All visits must be scheduled and visitors will be screened for COVID-19 and have their temperature taken prior to visiting. Hand sanitizer will be provided and face masks must be worn at all times.
For those that are unable to visit, gifts may be dropped off to HCMH’s front registration desk. Visitors of Long Term Care and Springvale Assisted Living are encouraged to bring gifts, says Tammy Kuehnast, assisted living manager at Springvale. But there are some restrictions.
“It’s best to call ahead of time so that staff can greet you at the door and they can accept the gift for the tenant and deliver it to them personally.”
Food items not made in a licensed kitchen or prepackaged continue to be prohibited at LTC and Springvale.
Heather MacLeod, director of nursing, says the health and safety of residents is HCMH’s “number one priority” and she appreciates everyone’s “patience and understanding during this difficult time.”
