Mini-van flips on its side avoiding deer

Humboldt County, IA – No injuries reported after a mini-van attempts to avoid a deer and rolls early Sunday morning,

Deputy Kenneth Vorland of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s files the report on the single car and animal involved incident. The report states that on Sunday, Dec. 13, Ruthann Oatman, 18, of Humboldt was westbound on 250th street when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle. Oatman took evasive action to avoid hitting the animal resulting in her Blue Ford Freestar leaving the roadway to the north. The vehicle came back over across the road to the south shoulder before flipping over onto the driver’s side and sliding into the south ditch and shoulder and back on to its wheels.

The incident resulted in severe damages to Oatman’s Freestar that was towed away from the scene. No injuries were reported by Deputy Vorland at the time of the incident.
