Officer Susan Rutz of the Humboldt Police Department files the report on the two car incident. Her report states that on Thursday, Dec. 17, she dispatched to the scene at the four way stop of 9th St. N and 6th Ave. N. She observed a silver Chevrolet Cruz driven by Thomas Smith, 89, of Dakota City and a gray Buick Encore driven by Nita Stransberry, 56, of West Bend in the intersection.

Both drivers told Officer Rutz that Stansberry was at the stop sign on 9th St. N, traveling while Smith was traveling east on 6th Ave. N. Stansberry stated she had stopped at the stop sign and thought she had enough time to make I through the intersection. The driver proceeded forward resulting in her Encore striking the broad side of Smith’s Cruz on the passenger’s side.
