Dakota City, IA – The Humboldt County fire departments provide the supervisors with final numbers on radio equipment purchases.

On Monday, Jan. 11, during the meeting of the Board of Supervisors Scott Thompson with the Humboldt County Firefighter’s Association spoke with the board. His purpose was to provide an update on where the area fire departments were at with their new radio equipment purchases.

Thompson says that all grants from the USDA that were previously discussed did get the official approval. He says there was some delay because some departments were late getting their paper work in.

There were very minor changes to the updated amount requested. Thompson says Gilmore City’s amount decreased by about $2,000 to $31,413.40. The total amount the county will provide to the fire departments will be $218,146.60.

All equipment, including pagers, hand and truck radios have been order. Thompson says that they will work to training the firefighters on the new equipment with the help of Eagle Groves’s fire chief.

As previously reported by KHBT, the equipment being purchased is being funded by grants as well as part of the $2.78 million dollars the county bonded for back in September.
