Humboldt boys make it four straight wins by beating Hampton-Dumont

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School boys basketball cruises to their fourth straight conference win.

On Tuesday, February 2, the Wildcats hosted the Hampton-Dumont Bulldogs. It was a 77-44 victory for Humboldt in this North Central Conference competition.

Humboldt continued their trend of starting off games by dominating the first quarter. The managed to outscore the Bulldogs 15-3 in the first period.

The second quarter continued that trend for Humboldt who put up another 15 points to their opponents seven. At the halftime break Humboldt held a 30-10 point advantage.

Both teams had their offenses going in the third quarter but Humboldt still outscored Hampton-Dumont 25-19 in the period. Going into the fourth Humboldt led 55-29.

The trend stayed the course in the final period as Humboldt outscored Hampton-Dumont 22-15 in the fourth. Humboldt collected the victory 77-44.

As a team Humboldt shot 44.3 percent from the field and 7-20 from three point range. They pulled in 44 rebounds, had 10 assists and six steals.

Forward Sam Fischer led the way with 16 points and a double-double with 14 rebounds. Center Ben Kuehnast had 13 points on 5-7 shooting off the bench.

With the win Humboldt is now 10-5 on the season and 7-3 in the NCC. They have won four straight games.

The Wildcat’s next game will be on Thursday, Feb. 4 at home against Webster City. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 pm.
