Spirit Lake, IA – Humboldt High School wrestling advance six and finishes second as a team at sectionals.
On Saturday, February 6, the Wildcat wrestling team met up with five other schools for the opening rounds of the postseason. It was a solid outing for Humboldt who advanced six wrestlers to districts and finishes second as a team with 207 points.
Of the six who advanced three Wildcats finished as sectional champions.
- 113 – Dylan Vaudt
- 126 – Jase Goodell
- 132 – Ty Gargano
The other three were runner up finishers
- 106 – Jayden Gargano
- 120 – DJ Muir
- 220 – Colten Goodell
Of those who didn’t advance two lost in their true second place matches (138 Colby Clarken and 160 Fletcher Satern). One Humboldt wrestler did not get the chance to wrestle for second (285 Brady Marsh). Two Humboldt wrestlers lost in their third place wrestle back match (152 Jordan Jensen and 195 Christian Lee).
Three Humboldt wrestlers finishes fifth after losing in their opening rounds and ended with seasons with wins:
- 145 – Gage Prenger
- 170 – Christian Acala
- 182 – Tanner McKimmey
For the eight Humboldt wrestlers who did not finish in the top two their seasons will come to an end. The remain six Wildcats will participate in districts on Saturday, Feb. 13. Their districts will be held at Humboldt High School.
