Humboldt, IA – Fundraising efforts for the new hog barn facility at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds is currently going on.

Fair Board President Jeff Hasselhuhn says the fair board has officially begun to collect donations from the public for the new facility they are going to build. This includes different donation “levels” as well as finding a lead building sponsor.

Hasselhuhn says there are three tiers of “recommended” donations for sponsors. The first is “Grand Champion” which is a donation of $1,000 or more. The second tier is “Reserve Champion” which is $500 or more. The third is $250 or more as a “Blue Ribbon” sponsor.

The fair board president says they are also looking for a lead sponsors for the new facility. This sponsor could be a business or an individual. The sponsor should be someone who’s got a “heart” for the fair, hog industry or is passionate about the raising and showing of pigs.

While there are suggested levels of donations for the new hog barn at the fairgrounds Hasselhuhn says anything helps. Donations can be in the form of cash but they will also accept equipment, grain or vehicle donations. Since the fair board is a 501 C3 nonprofit all donations will receive a tax deductible receipt.

The fair board president compares these fundraising efforts to a few years ago when they were building the fairground’s show ring. He says at that time the communities really stepped up to help contribute funds for that project. As a result they were able to build it debt free and he’s optimistic the community will show that same passion for the fair this time around.

As previously reported the hog farm is one of two new 60′ x 120′ facilities the fairgrounds will be getting. The hog facility will use portable pens and will function as a rental space for storage during the winter months. The other facility mentioned is a new horse stable which the fair board is also fundraising for.

Donation for the new Humboldt County Fairgrounds facilities can be mailed to the Humboldt County Fair at PO Box 391, Humboldt, IA, 50548.

Hasselhuhn and the fair board appreciate all the support the community continues to provide the local fair.
