Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School girls’ soccer gets their third win by topping Greene County 2-1 at home.
On Friday, April 23, the Wildcats hosted the Rams at the Humboldt High School Soccer Field. Humboldt controlled the time of position and offensive opportunities in their two goal performance.
Humboldt led 1-0 at the half time break. In the 29th minute, freshman Reagan Lee was able to score her first goal of the season by slipping a low shot just inside the right post.
The Wildcats gained a 2-0 leader halfway through the second half. In the 63rd minute Yuli Orana picked up her third goal of the season on a penalty kick. Orana would have a second penalty kick opportunity soon after but Greene County Goalie Kaylee Stalder was able to make the save.
Greene County’s goal would also come on a penalty kick. In the 78th minute Katrina Heupel was able to convert it for the Rams first goal of the 2021 season.
With the 2-1 win Humboldt High School girls’ soccer is now 3-3 on the season. Reagan Lee was named the player of the game as part of KHBT’s broadcast coverage.
The next game for Humboldt will be Monday, April 26, at 5 pm. They will be hosting North Central Conference opponent Clear Lake.
