Mason records second OT winner of the season against Webster City for Humboldt boys’ soccer

Webster City, IA – Humboldt High School boys’ soccer gets their second 2-1 overtime win over Webster City.

On Friday, April 23, Humboldt traveled to Webster City to face the Lynx. For the second time this season the Wildcats were able to top their North Central Conference rival in overtime.

The first half began the tightly contested match. Webster City was able to score first thanks to a goal by Martin Kasonga in the 24th minute. In the 32 minute Humboldt was able to get the equalizer thanks to an unassisted goal by Zach Heider.

After a tied 1-1 halftime break the score would remain unchanged. After 80 minutes Humboldt and Webster City would once again find themselves going to overtime.

Humboldt did not let the game get two deep into the extra time. In the 83rd minute Max Mason would find the back of the net to win the game for the Wildcats.

With the win Humboldt boys’ soccer is now 4-1 on the season. Their next game will be on Monday, April 26, on the road against Clear Lake. Match time is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm.
