Belmond, IA – Humboldt High School boys’ soccer gets a mercy rule win on the road, 10-0, over Belmond-Klemme.
On Thursday, April 22, the Wildcats traveled to face the Broncos. The scoring started early and often for Humboldt who was unchallenged in this one.
Through the first 15 minutes of the game Humboldt began to settle in and look for chinks in the Blemond-Klemme defense. In the 17th minute the scoring would begin as Max Mason collected his first goal of the game.
Over the course of the following fifteen minutes Humboldt found the back of the net six more times. Christian Ramirez and Mason both recorded a hat trick in the first half. Fin Mason also scored a goal in the 31st minute to give Humboldt a 7-0 lead at half time.
In the second half Humboldt gave a lot of their regular players some rest while giving experience to the younger varsity players. Gage Allen was the first to score for Humboldt in the second half. Jame Gould also found a goal.
In the 71st minutes Humboldt ended the game on the 10 goal lead mercy rule. A penalty kick was drawn with Humboldt leading 9-0 and sophomore Henrick Gustafson converted it to end the game.
With the win Humboldt improves their record to 3-1. Christian Ramirez was named player of the game by KHBT 97.7 the Bolt as part of the broadcast coverage.
Humboldt’s next game will be on Friday, April 23, on the road against Webster City. This will be a make-up game between the two team from Monday, April 19. It is scheduled to begin after the Webster City girls’ game, tentatively around 7:30 pm.
