Humboldt, IA – The City of Humboldt is renewing their agreement with the North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency.

During the most recent meeting of the Humboldt City Council they were presented with a resolution to approve a 28E agreement between the city and the agency that is commonly referred to as the “Fort Dodge Landfill.” This is a renewal and an amended agreement of one the city has had in the past.

City Administrator Travis Goedken says that this was required after the Department of Natural Resources did a routine inspection of the NCIRSWA and found not all members had a written agreement. Humboldt did have a 30 year old agreement that was in writing, but all members were required to sign a new agreement.

The city took this time to make some “minor” changes. Mainly they added in language about the new household hazardous waste facility. They also added some language for “clarification” on a few points.

The council approved the agreement unanimously as presented.
