Humboldt track to compete in seven Drake Relay events

Des Moines, IA – Multiple Humboldt High School track and field athletes will be heading to Des Moines for the 2021 Drake Relays.

On Thursday, April 22, Drake University will be hosting their annual relays. This event features some of the top runners, throwers and jumpers at the high school level.

This year the Humboldt boys’ team will be participating in five events. This includes three individual events and two relays.

Quinton Orr will be running in both the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run. Orr’s top time in the 3200 is 9:31.78. In the 1600 it is 4:24.70. Both of those times are “Blue Standard” times for automatic qualification for the Drake Relays.

Caden Matson will be running in the 110 meter high hurdles event. His quickest time in this event is 15.40.

Humboldt will also run a shuttle hurdle relay with a team of Jordan Coon, Troy Gerjets, Aiden Christensen and Matson. Their top time in this event is 1:02.54.

The Wildcats will also run the 1600-distance medley relay with a team of Matson, Cale Hundertmark, Eric Wittrock and Orr. This teams fastest time in this event is 3:35.96.

Kendal Clark from the Humboldt girls’ team will be throwing in the Drake Relays in both shot put and discus. Her top throw in shot put this year is 42-10.50 which is a Blue Standard. Her top discus distance is 135-08.50.
