Humboldt, IA – A downtown retail business is operating under new ownership that is excited to bring new ideas to their store.

Feather Your Nest for Less was recently purchased by AJ Flurey and Calli McClintock. The new owners say they are excited to begin their adventure and to implement new ideas to go with the already “good things that have been in place.”

McClintock says the plan is to bring a new offering to the store while continuing to offer some of the same products. “We are going to go towards the furniture and home décor,” she says. The store will also be getting a baby boutique.

“Lil’ Peeps Boutique” is the name for the new section of the store. McClintock says they will offer clothes for boys and girls. Right now they currently have mainly girls’ clothing but are working to acquire boys’ clothing as soon as they can get more in.

McClintock says there is definitely a need for Lil’ Peeps Boutique in the local market. “From what I’m aware of it’ll be mostly the only place to get baby clothes other than Western Edge right now, here in Humboldt.”

The clothes will be offered for newborn and older. The new owner also says that they will work with their neighbors, Carbon Boutique, to incorporate their products as well. Their plan is to make sure they have “something for everybody.”

Feather Your Nest for Less was previously owned by Bev and Dennis Hanna, who brought the store to Humboldt three-and-a-half years ago. McClintock is appreciative of their work and their willingness to help with the transition. “They are just great, great people. They have been awesome to work with.”

Bev Hanna has stayed on to help the new owners get the “feel of the ropes.” McClintock says “it’s going to be a sad day when she leaves.” The invitation is always there for the retiring owner to come by the store whenever she wants.

McClintock says she and Flurey will be holding a party for the former owners on Friday, May 14, from 3-5:30 pm.

The Grand Opening for Lil’ Peeps Boutique will be on Tuesday, June 1. There will be doors prizes, giveaways and drawings along with refreshments.

McClintock encourages members of the community to come out and have some fun while getting to meet the new owners.
