Humboldt man injured in motorcycle incident

Dakota City, IA – Serious injuries are being reported after a motorcyclist loses control on a curve.

The details were released from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office through a press release on Monday, June 28. The release says that on Thursday, June 24, Nicklaus Mathis, 35, of Humboldt was westbound on 230th Street on his motorcycle when he lost control of his motorcycle approaching the curve near the entrance to Dakota City Access.

Mathis was ejected from his motorcycle and was found lying on the roadway. The release says that incapacitating injuries were sustained as a result of the accident.

He was initially transported to Humboldt County Memorial Hosptial before being airlifted to a Des Moines hospital. It is not believed that Mathis was wearing a helmet.

This accident remains under investigation by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
