Humboldt softball falls in three innings to Algona

Algona, IA – On Friday, June 11, Humboldt softball fell to Algona 16-4 in three innings.

Humboldt was able to strike first in the top of the first inning by scoring three runs. The Wildcat lead would hold for the inning after Algona scored two in the bottom of the first.

Humboldt was unable to score in the top of the second inning and Algona was able to add six in the bottom of the frame to take the lead 8-3. Humboldt got one in the third inning and Algona was able to force the run rule (12 or more runs after three) in the bottom of the third by scoring eight before an out was recorded.

Ryan Haynes was the winning pitcher for Algona. She pitched all three innings, gave up three hits, four earned runs and four walks. She struck out one batter.

Brianna Lange was the losing pitcher for Humboldt. She pitched two innings, giving up 12 earned runs, nine walks and five hits.

Humboldt was led by Reagan Lee who was 1-2 in her plate appearances with two RBIs. Jori Hajek was 0-1 at the plate but scored twice after one walk and reaching once on a error.

Algona was led by Moriah Knapp who went 1-1 at the plate with an RBI and a triple. Olivia Rochleau was 1-2 at the plate with three RBIs.

Humboldt is now 8-5 this season and 3-2 in the North Central Conference. They have lost their last four games.

The next game for the Wildcats will be on Monday, June 14, on the road against St. Edmond. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm, following a JV game.
