Humboldt baseball tops Central Springs behind Matson’s complete game

Manly, IA – On Friday, June 11, Humboldt baseball won 5-2 over Central Springs.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings. Humboldt struck first in the top of the third to get a 1-0 lead after three.

Central Springs managed to get their only two runs in the bottom of the fourth innings to get a 2-1 lead. Humboldt would regain the lead in the top of the fifth by scoring two more runs. One insurance run would be added in both the sixth and seventh inning to round out the final 5-2 score.

Caden Matson was the winning pitcher for Humboldt. He pitched a complete game, giving up five hits, two earned ones and one hit batter. He struck out eight batters.

Humboldt’s record is now 11-1 this season. They have won their last seven games.

The next game for the Wildcats will be on Monday, June 14, on the road against St. Edmond. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm, following a JV game.
