Nettleton Excavating approved for more water main work in Humboldt

Humboldt, IA – A familiar face will be taking on another water main project in Humboldt.

During the June 7 city council meeting the council took action to approve the contract for the 16th Avenue North Water Main Improvement Project. The estimated project cost came in below the state’s “competitive bid threshold” so the city was ability to contact companies directly for quotes instead of going through a sealed bid process.

The work proposal presented to council by city staff was from Brian Nettleton Excavating Inc. This is the same team that is currently doing the water main work on and around Highway 169.

The 16th Avenue North Project will start at Hwy 169 and go east. The plans having it stopping near 11th Street North by Hadar Manufacturing. Essential the project will loop the existing mains to increase water volume in the area.

Council approved the contract for $75,992.80 with Nettleton Excavating.
