Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Police Department is using a modern take on the classic squad car color scheme in a minor re-branding effort.

On Sunday, July 4, during the Humboldt 4th of July Parade, the Humboldt Police Department unveiled the new look for their vehicles. Police Chief Joel Sanders says as a traditionalist he prefers the black and white look but did not want to go with the traditional look.

Chief Sanders says he worked with the crew at Northland Auto figure out the design and to check the cost of getting all their vehicles wrapped. The price was do-able for the department. The process will be gradually done over the coming weeks to get all the vehicle wrapped.

There are a total of six vehicles currently being used by the Humboldt Police Department with a seventh being ordered. Once the seventh vehicle is in town the squad vehicles will be numbered and be taken home by their assigned officer.

The department will also have an administrative vehicle that is unmarked for situations when it needed.
