Humboldt Police says Facebook not for reporting crime

Humboldt, IA -The Humboldt Police Department would like to remind the public to call or text 9-11 or call the Law Enforcement Center at (515) 332-2600 to report crime or traffic crash, speak with a police officer, request police presence or provide evidence of a crime. Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders says that Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center Facebook page  and Facebook messenger are not designed as methods for reporting crimes or to generate immediate assistance from a police officer and explains why.

Chief Sanders says the same concept applies with contacting Humboldt Police Officers.
