Shooting incident in Fort Dodge injures teenager

Fort Dodge, IA – A teenager was injured in a shooting incident early Sunday Morning in Fort Dodge.

The Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of shots fired in the area of the 10 block of North 10th Street at 4:21 AM on Sunday.

When officers arrived on scene they found a male who had sustained gun shot wounds to his mid section. Officers  began medical treatment on the individual before medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to Unity Point- Trinity Regional Medical Center. The victim, an 18 year old male, was then life flighted to a Des Moines area hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the shooting occurred inside an apartment area located at 21 ½ N 7th Street. The victim fled the scene and was later located at a nearby parking lot.

Fort Dodge Police is continuing to look into the incident. Anyone who may have information is encouraged to contact law enforcement. It is believed based off of information available that the incident was isolated to known individuals and not a random act.
