Humboldt, IA -The Humboldt Police Department has a reminder of winter regulations in the City of Humboldt. Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders reminds the public of winter parking restrictions.

Humboldt City Council has designated all streets within corporate city limits excluding Sumner Avenue from 8th Street to 4th Street as snow routes.

Whenever the Mayor or Police Chief determines that current or forecasted weather conditions create hazardous  road conditions, they will publicly declare a snow route emergency and no parking on any designated snow route will be permitted. The parking ban on snow routes will begin four hours after the designation has been declared and if declared after 8:00 p.m the parking ban will not go into effect until 7:00 a.m the next day.

The ban will remain in effect for 48 hours unless a different period is designated by the Mayor or until the snow route has been cleared  by the city and precipitation is decreased. Any person violating the snow emergency parking ban shall be subject to a fine of $20.00 for each hour of violation and subject to towing after 24 hours.
