Resources available for those affected by Wednesday’s storm

Humboldt, IA – Disaster relief is available for Humboldt County residents affected by Wednesday’s storms. Holly Applegate, Humboldt County Outreach Specialist with Upper Des Moines Opportunity has more on the program.

For individuals wanting to apply or have questions call Upper Des Moines Opportunity outreach at 515-604-6550. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit a claim.

In addition, those who currently are receiving Food Assistance (SNAP)  from DHS who has food spoiled due to power outages from the December 15th, 2021 storms are also able to pick up a form for food replacement to be submitted to their local DHS office. These forms must be submitted no later than 10 days from the date that the food loss was discovered. Additionally, the power outage must have been for at least 4 hours for refrigerated items and 24 to 48 hours for frozen items.
