COVID-19 continues to rise in Humboldt County

Humboldt, IA -Leaders of Humboldt County Public Health and Humboldt County Memorial Hospital gave an update on COVID-19 in Humboldt County and provided an annual update and funding request for fiscal year 2022-2023 to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on Monday.

Joleen Sernett of Humboldt County Public Health described the most recent COVID-19 data in Humboldt County. From January 4th to January 14, there have been 229 positive cases in Humboldt County. The total positive cases in the county have climbed to 2,461 and there have been 35 deaths. The total positives since June 14. are 1,264, 867 of which are unvaccinated, 397 are fully vaccinated.

Humboldt County Memorial Hospital CEO Michelle Sleiter told the Board that COVID is putting a strain on the hospital.
