Humboldt defeats Sioux Center advance to Substate Semifinals

Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats boys basketball team opened postseason play on Monday night hosting Sioux Center, and what a game it was as the Wildcats got the win 81-67. Humboldt built a 19 point half time lead behind 4 3-pointers and 14 first half points from Josh Thurm, including this big sequence in the first half.

Sioux Center came back in the second half to get within 3 points but Humboldt closed the door on the Warriors late, with shots like this to get the win.

Caden Matson had 22 points to lead the Wildcats. Thurm had 17 and Will Orness had 18.

 

Next up for the Wildcats is the 3A Substate 1 semifinals against LeMars on Thursday at 7.
