Humboldt County Fair plans to continue with poultry exhibitions despite bird flu outbreak

Humboldt, IA -The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office in Humboldt County tells KHBT news that despite a bird flu outbreak recently in Iowa, nothing has a changed in terms plans to show live poultry exhibitions at this years Humboldt County Fair in July. Kiersten Gatewood is the ISU Extension and Outreach County Youth Coordinator for Humboldt County and says they are monitoring the situation closely, and will let the public know if anything changes for the fair.

On Wednesday, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship announced an order to cancel all live bird exhibitions at fairs and other gathering of birds for a minimum of 30 days.
