Humboldt Softball defeated by Webster City 13-6

Webster City, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats softball team lost their conference game tonight on the road against the Webster City Lynx 13-6. The loss marked the third consecutive loss for the Wildcats dating back to Monday’s two losses to St. Edmond-Fort Dodge.

For the Wildcats, Elsie Hubbell (Fr.) started inside the circle for the Cats, tossing five innings and allowing 11 runs on six hits. Abby Armitage (8th) came in relief of Hubbell, completing one inning of work while allowing one run on one hit. Offensively for Humboldt, Paige Opeheim (8th) was 3-4 with a HR and Rylee Coyle (So.) was 2-2 with two HRs. Additionally, Macey Varangkounh (So.) was 2-3 from the plate and Addie Thompson (Jr.) added an extra base hit with a double.

For the Lynx, Ava Peterson (So.) was 1-3 at the dish with three RBIs and Livia Kasch (Jr.) who was 2-4 with three RBIs as well. Trinity Griffith (Jr.) was 2-4 and Bonnie Nohrenberg (So.) was 1-3 with a double and a RBI. In the circle for the Lynx, Delainey Bargfrede (So.) went the distance with a complete game, allowing six runs (five earned) on 12 hits with no walks and five strikeouts to go along with a hit batter. Bargfrede earned the win.

With the loss the Wildcats fall to 8-4 (4-4 NCC). Humboldt is back on the diamond tomorrow as they host the Forest City Indians from the Humboldt High School Softball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
